Tutor: Steve Altham

Teaching Experience / Education

Steve has been teaching guitar for 5 years, either privately at home in Portsmouth or at schools and teaching centres. Steve is a 2009 graduate of The Academy Of Contemporary Music (ACM), where he was taught by renowned music industry professionals such as Pete Friesen, Matt Haslett, Jon Bishop, Jamie Humphries and Giogio Serci. 

While studying at the ACM, Steve achieved a Higher National Diploma and a BA(hons) Degree (2:1), both in Contemporary Music Performance.

Professional Experience

A musician with over 10 years performance experience, Steve performs regularly with many bands in his professional life outside of teaching, including playing weddings and corporate events all over the UK and Europe with professional function bands and party bands. As well as this, Steve has been involved in live and studio session work with many original artists and bands between Portsmouth and London.

Steve is a composer, and is involved in writing with many original bands and projects, as well as his own music. 

Help and advice drawn from his experience is available to students who wish to explore music as a career, or just wish to learn how to play music for fun.

Steve is a member of the Musicians Union..
